Quilting Hideaway is pleased to offer several wide fabrics for the back of your quilt. These items are available to anyone, not just those using our quilting services. We ship to the continental United States and to APO & FPO addresses.

How To Order Fabrics

We accept payment through PayPal, personal check, or money order. Write down the product(s) and quantities that you wish to order. You may contact us at or phone (218) 384-4634. After we have received your order, we will verify our inventory, calculate your total, and advise you of the total including any tax or shipping charges. If you request payment through PayPal, we can e-mail you an invoice or you may go directly to the PayPal site and make payment immediately. Check or money order payment can be sent to Quilting Hideaway, 1474 Halvorson Road, Carlton, MN 55718. We will process your order as soon as we receive payment. If paying by check, we process your order as soon as the funds clear. Please allow 7-9 banking days after receipt, for you check to clear before the order is shipped.

Wide Quilt Backing fabric is sold in ¼ yd. units. One yard = 4 Units.

Cut fabric can not be returned, so please request a swatch if you are not sure the color will match. Include your address and indicate the item name you'd like to receive with your request when you contact us.

How Much Backing Fabric is Needed for a Quilt?

The width of wide backings is 108” – 115”. Shrinkage of 100% cotton fabrics can be up to 5%. Washing in cold water minimizes shrinkage, as does a cool drying cycle. The general rule is to add 5% to the finished size needed. If your quilt will be machine quilted, remember to add the number of inches your quilter requires as overage. Machine quilters require up to 8” wider and longer than the size of the quilt top, so add the 8” to the dimensions of the quilt top and then add another 5% to the length and width for shrinkage allowance.
